I like dumplings because it’s a quick and forgiving recipe that can be seasoned up with whatever is on hand. If you have fresh herbs laying around, then this is a great dish to really make them stand out.

  • 1 1/3 cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking  powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk (soy)
  • 2 tablespoons oil

This is the base recipe that I start from, but honestly, I just through the main ingredients together in rough estimated qualities and I always through in some seasoning. Fresh basil, thyme, or oregano, whatever you have on hand. Toss the dumplings into a pot of chicken broth with a can or frozen mix of veggies or some fresh onion, carrots, peas, or whatever veggies you need to get rid of.
